Cassini returns images of Death Star


In what is no doubt some JPL-ILM scheme to generate publicity for Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, NASA's Cassini probe has taken pictures of the Death Star. They claim it's actually Saturn's moon Mimas and the crater Herschel. But we all know the power of guerilla marketing.

Ask for a service loaner, get a Land Yacht

While my ultra-cool wider-is-better Grand Prix is at the dealership getting a couple of new tires, I had to ask for a service loaner.  What I got was this:


 
Smooth ride, but hoo-boy not much visibility at all.  Perhaps because it's got more cubic space than my bedroom.  I hope I don't flatten some poor defenseless Mini Cooper tomorrow before my own car is ready.  Well, sort of.

I've always been curious about Bobby Fischer, but never really followed up my curiosity.  In the wake of his arrest in Japan, this fascinating bio in Atlantic Monthy has turned up on Google News.  It's always interesting to see how close genius and madness can get.
